Japanilaisen dubstepin veteraani ja luovan remixin mestari

Kiki Hitomi esiintyy toukokuussa livenä Kontulassa!

Aavemaisen outo laulun sointi, Leipzigin soiset metsäkaistaleet, 8-bittinen soundi ja vahvasti bassoa –  Kiki Hitomi saapuu Kontulaan lauantaina 18.5.

Kikin tyyli yhdistelee Japanilaisia 50-luvun J-popin laulusaundeja, enka-puhelaulun perinnettä, kokeellista dubia, muhkeaa bassoa sekä pelimaailmaan 8-bittisiä vintage-sämplejä.

Japanilainen laulaja-säveltäjä tunnetaan King Midas Sound (Ninja tunes) -kolmikosta, dub, noise ja punk -sävyjä yhdistelevästä japanilaisesta Dokkebi Q:sta sekä viimeisimmästä

duo-projekteistaan WaqWaqKingdom (Jahtari).

Karma No Kusari is a criss-crossing, kaleidoscopic clash of Japanese pop culture and soundsystem skank from Jamaica via London. Everything has been made with hardware and given a retro computer aesthetic, culminating in a record that shouldn't sound as seamless as it does -Sonically rich, bizarre yet accessible -Resident Advisor /Karma No Kusari, Kiki Hitomi

Kiki Hitomi is a Japanese singer, songwriter and sonic alchemist as one third of the bass explorers King Midas Sound (Ninja Tune) with poet/singer Roger Robinson and producer Kevin Martin (aka The Bug), and was a founding member of the Japanese Dubstep noise punk duo Dokkebi Q.

After leaving London for Leipzig, she’s spent the last three years working on a solo project alongside Jahtari label boss Disrupt, resulting in her debut solo album Karma No Kusari (Chain Of Karma), a mind-altering journey through time and space, stopping by Japanese Enka and J-Pop, vintage electronics, 8-bits psychedelic and mutated deep fried dig dub. The LP unfolds piece by piece, with Kiki’s otherworldly tone of voice providing a ghostly atmosphere that is at times unsetting but always achingly beautiful.
